The Dangers of Linking Accounts

Do you use your Gmail account to log into FaceBook or other applications or websites? Do you use the same password for multiple websites? If you do, no judgments here but, it's time to stop.

Turns out, the authentication code that allows Gmail and FaceBook to link, has a vulnerability that a hacker could exploit to gain control of your FaceBook account. While this has probably been fixed by now, this is a very big deal because Gmail's authentication is one of the most secure there is. Until now. And if a hacker can exploit the most secure authentication, they can certainly break into less secure authentication used by other websites.

If you're worried about having to always remember your passwords (you know, AFTER you unlink your accounts) there are several good products on the market to store your passwords safely. A quick internet search for "password manager" will give you lots of options.
