Technical Writing - Marketing
This was created for a very specific marketing purpose with very specific specs.
Technical Writing - Quick Reference Guide
This QRG was built in response to a frequently asked question that came in to the help desk.
Technical Writing - Quick Reference Guide
This is a Quick Reference Guide in a slightly different format. While I prefer to use screen prints for software processes, this is sometimes dictated by the client.
Technical Writing - Infographic
This sample was created to show members of a club that the features available could still be utilized during Covid restrictions
Technical Writing - User Guide
This is older sample of a user guide. Much of it has been scrubbed (NDA) but the structure is representative of a standard user guide.
Technical Writing - Quick Reference Card
Word Shortcuts
Technical Writing - Job Aid
A step-by-step process job aid.
Technical Writing - Visio
Both Visio and Lucidchart are great tools for diagrams as well as process maps and flowcharts.
Technical Writing - Lucidchart
A simple process map.
Technical Writing - Style Guide
This is a sample Style Guide that I put together to use as a talking point. Not all companies have one and this is not a "complete" guide. However, it's great to have on hand when discussing what a style guide is (and is not), why a department or company might want one, and how it differs from a marketing guide.
Technical Writing - "How to" Job Aid
This was a requested sample that was sent to me in a vague paragraph form to "pretty up" and "make it a process".
Technical Writing - User Manual
A user manual sample that I've truncated and scrubbed of identifying data.
Instructional Design - Video "How To"
This clip (w/o audio) was created as an admin-to-admin "how to" do something. The recipient didn't need anything other than a quick video of what had been missed. We still use this with new admins.
Instructional Design - Module
This is a one-module sample of a larger ILT course on Project Management with content from the client. Also, as requested, it is a combo of the slide deck and Facilitator Guide in one file.
Instructional Design - PowerPoint Show
This is a much older, sample that was requested as a "proof of concept". I was given a set of parameters and told to use whatever content I wanted. Since I didn't have access to any of the software (at that time, free trials were not "robust" enough) I used PowerPoint. Originally built in PowerPoint 97, you can see how the alignment of items is a little off from slide to slide - which is a common problem when jumping 10 versions of software! However, the reason why I like to include this is because it's a good example of the thought process behind the content. If you want to try it, download it and run it in Slideshow mode.
This page will always be a work in progress!
